Where We Work

The ITDP India Programme works with over 100 ‘smart’ Indian cities, at state and national level. Our mission: to ingrain sustainable mobility into the ethos of Indian urban transport. This we strive to achieve by transforming the quality and availability of walking, cycling, and public transport infrastructure and services.

Our work in India began in 1998 with one woman’s cycle-rickshaw journey in the bylanes of Agra to improve urban mobility. Twenty years later, the trail has spread across the country, with more than 28 passionate experts working closely with cities and their leaders.

So far, our efforts have bear fruits in cities like Agra, Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Nashik, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chennai, and Coimbatore. As for efforts in policy reformation, we are actively engaged on the National level and with states such as Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu
