Urbanisation in India is far from uniform. Even within the areas of expansion of services and accessibility, the allocation of capital and reform tends to be myopic. Under the delusion of easing congestion, Indian cities have been burning money on vehicle-centric infrastructures such as flyovers and road expansions. But in reality, these primarily serve only a minority of urban residents—the motorists.
